Module 2 · Hands-on project
Project: A presentation from your sources
Structure and content from your own material — engaging, not a wall of text
You have a topic and a folder of source material — reports, notes, articles, a few figures — and you need a presentation out of it. Not a generic deck the AI invented, and not a wall of bullet points nobody can sit through. A deck built from your sources, structured as a story, that an audience actually follows.
The mindset: don't ask for "a presentation about X" — you'll get a dry, generic one. Give it your sources, your audience, and your goal, and have it build the narrative first. Slides come last.
What you need in the folder
- Your source material in a sources/ subfolder of your working folder (reports, notes, articles, data — PDF, Word, Excel, text). "Put it in sources/" just means create that subfolder and drop the files in, the same as in lesson 1.3.
- The topic, the audience (e.g. students on a project-management course), and a rough length (e.g. 20 minutes / ~15 slides).
- Optional: a brand or template file, and any past deck you liked, as a style example.
About the [brackets] in the prompts below: things like [topic] and [audience] are fill-in slots — replace them with your real topic and audience. Don't type the brackets. For example, "[topic]" becomes "our 2026 onboarding redesign."
